We always live in a continuous tension between the real Self and the ideal Self, between what we are and what we would like to be. The real self is who we are. Sometimes this gives us satisfaction, especially when others love us, seek us and appreciate us for what we are and have. But it continually causes us dissatisfaction because we find defects, errors, blunders that we would like to erase from ourselves.
The real self is what we are, our mistakes and sinfulness, our strengths and weaknesses. It is not like people see me or think about me but how I think, feel, look and act.
The ideal self is how we think want to be, that we strive to be, and that we feel we are expected to be. It is an idealized version of yourself created out of what you have learned from your life experiences, the demands of society, and what you admire in your role models. (Psychology definition)
The great news
When we meet Jesus, we discover who we are and what is most important, we discover that He loves us just as we are. He paid the highest price to redeem us from what we are and to become what he wants us to be.

How many times you hear "what's wrong with kids today?" churches and society place all blame on them, but perhaps part of the problem is you........who you are
The cross is a display of the hopeless, undeserving, dirty, sinful, guilty, rebellious, corrupted condition of the people who were purchased. The magnitude of Christ’s sufferings is a measure, not of the magnitude of my worth, but the magnitude of the ugliness of my sin, the outrage of my rebellion, and the infinite value of the glory of God that my sin had defamed.since god chose you
For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)never give up
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Where is God in all our struggles? Does he really care about me?
God cares! His love for each one of His children is so deep, so personal, so tender—that He has compassion on our every pain, every distress, every struggle.

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
